What We Offer
Emergency Power In Your Home
The GenerLink is a revolutionary transfer switch that eliminates the complexities and hazards of using a portable generator during a power outage. Installed directly behind your home’s electric meter by a licensed electrician, this device acts as a secure entry point for backup power. Unlike traditional manual transfer switches that require extensive rewiring of your interior electrical panel, the GenerLink creates a physical barrier between the utility grid and your home’s wiring, ensuring that power from your generator cannot “backfeed” into the utility lines—a critical safety feature that protects utility workers.
How do you connect an emergency generator to your home?
Effortless Operation Without the Extension Cords
One of the most significant advantages of the GenerLink system is the elimination of “extension cord chaos.” Traditionally, using a portable generator meant running multiple heavy-duty cords through open windows or doors to power individual appliances. With GenerLink, you simply plug your generator into the specialized receptacle on the unit using a single heavy-duty cord. Once connected, your generator can power your entire household circuit breaker panel, allowing you to select which appliances, lights, or pumps you want to run directly from your home’s existing wall outlets and switches
Flexibility and Peace of Mind
Because the GenerLink is compatible with a wide variety of portable generators, it offers homeowners incredible flexibility. Whether you are looking to keep the refrigerator running and the lights on, or need to power a well pump and furnace blower, the GenerLink makes it as simple as flipping a breaker. It’s an ideal solution for those who want the reliability of a professionally installed backup system without the permanent footprint or higher price tag of a whole-home standby unit. By choosing a GenerLink installation, you’re investing in a versatile, code-compliant connection that ensures your family stays comfortable and safe during the next storm.
Generator Compatibility & Requirements
To ensure a seamless connection with a GenerLink system, a portable generator must meet the following specifications:
Four-Prong Outlet: The generator must have a 14-30 (30-amp) or 14-50 (50-amp) four-prong outlet. This allows for two hot wires, a neutral wire, and a ground wire to connect safely to the device.
Voltage Output: The unit must be a 120/240-volt generator. Single-voltage (120V only) units are not compatible as they cannot power both “legs” of your home’s electrical panel.
Circuit Breaker Protection: The generator must have an integrated circuit breaker. This acts as a secondary safety layer to prevent overloading the GenerLink or your home’s wiring.
Clean Power (Recommended): For homeowners planning to run sensitive electronics (like laptops or smart TVs), a generator with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 5% is highly recommended.
Maximum Capacity: The generator’s continuous running wattage should not exceed the rating of the GenerLink model installed (typically available in 30-amp or 40-amp versions).
Neutral Bond Compatibility Note
One of the most common technical hurdles is the “Floating Neutral” vs. “Bonded Neutral” configuration.
Important: Most GenerLink models require a generator with a Floating Neutral. If your generator has a “Bonded Neutral,” it may trip the ground fault protection. A licensed electrician can quickly determine your generator’s configuration and advise if a simple modification is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The GenerLink is a UL-listed and code-compliant device. It is specifically designed to prevent "backfeeding," which is the dangerous flow of electricity from your generator back into the utility grid. By physically disconnecting your home from the grid before allowing generator power to enter, it protects both your home’s wiring and the utility workers repairing the lines.
Since the GenerLink is installed outside at your electric meter, we typically do not need access to the inside of your home. The installation usually takes less than 30 minutes. We will coordinate with your utility provider to pull the meter, plug in the GenerLink, and reset the meter securely.
The GenerLink unit features indicator lights that are visible from the outside.
Green Light: Utility power is present and stable.
Red Light: There may be a fault or an issue with the connection (contact us if this occurs). Once you see the green light, you can safely power down your generator. The GenerLink will automatically switch your home back to grid power once the generator is turned off and unplugged.
The GenerLink allows you to access any circuit in your home, but your portable generator determines the capacity. You cannot run every appliance simultaneously if they exceed your generator's wattage. For example, you may need to turn off the air conditioner to run the well pump or electric stove. It gives you the flexibility to choose which breakers to flip based on your immediate needs.
It works with most modern portable generators that have a 120/240V four-prong outlet (NEMA 14-30 or 14-50). However, it is not compatible with small 120V-only "camping" generators. We recommend a generator with a minimum of 4,000 watts to ensure you can adequately power essential home systems like pumps and furnaces.
No. Because the GenerLink is positioned behind the meter and pulls power from your generator, the utility meter does not record any usage while you are on backup power. You are only charged for electricity provided by the utility grid.
Add Bluetooth technology to your GenerLink and receive notifications when utility power is restored.
